Aliens...Seriously okay then
Jun. 4th, 2020 09:55 am Matt hadn't gone to the bar with the other Legends for various reasons. One he didn't know most of them well yet and two loud music and Matt's senses do not get along especially when it's a bar he didn't know well. The Legends who didn't realize this yet tried to drag him along, but John calmly shot it down. So Matt was enjoying a quiet night chatting with Gideon and patching up his armor in the lab when Sara's heart beat just stopped. Not slowed down, not muted...just gone.
John knew the second the group go back to that something had happened because Matt Murdock rarely got pissed off enough to show it. Matt's anger was normally a quiet thing given the young man knew his temper and knew how to reign it in. So to see his friend practically vibrating with fury means big trouble. "Where is Sara," Matt asked his tone making it clear he's not moving until he gets his answer The Legends look around and it dawns on them that their captain is not with them.
Matt adds in that quietly furious tone looking right at John. "Her heartbeat is gone John," he says, "not slow, not labored, it's gone." John blinks trying to process what the lawyer is telling him. "Gone," John asks knowing that the last time Matt admitted something like this it was because the person was dead but still walking around. Matt nods. "One second it was here and the next gone," Matt confirms, "not sure if she's...well...or something else. I just know I can't hear her anymore."
John swapped from gently drunk and relaxed to instantly on guard while Ava moves into asking Gideon to scan for Sara. "Anything else," he asks Matt knowing how sharp the young man's hearing is even when he's monitoring his friends. Matt thinks trying to focus in on what he picked up on. "There was a weird hum.....almost like.....the transporter noise from Star Trip....but different....deeper."
John nods and starts walking even as Ava yells at him to stop sensing where he's heading. Matt follows along, knowing John well enough to know what he's thinking. John trusts Matt's senses better than technology and isn't willing to wait. They are going to track Sara in their own way and the others can either be on board or let them go.
