Matt was furious, a deep burning anger that in a lesser man might had led to an awkward situation for people at the funeral. But he was back and Thea and Laurel's apartment on the couch and trying to sooth his upset girlfriend while resisting the urge to punch said girlfriend idiot brother in the face. He rested his chin on Thea's hair and breathed in her perfume."We don't have to stay here any longer you need to,"he muttered softly, "I know this is hard."

Thea nuzzled Matt's cheek as she spoke,"Kristen and Barry found each other when they needed each other the most and he's needed someone like her for ages. I love Iris too but Kristen is sunshine and strength, something Barry badly needs at the moment." She curled into Matt as she soaked up his warmth and the darkness of the day faded,"Not everyone has their own personal Daredevil either." dropping another kiss onto Matt in the process.

"I charge by the hour just so you know," Matt joked, "one kiss or nuzzle on the hour and I don't bargain. Perks of being a lawyer."

"And that is something I can live with quite happily." as Thea dropped another kiss onto Matt as proof. "But it looks like I'll be sticking around NYC for the next few weeks, enforced time off and I'm actually ok with that." she confessed. Her head knew time away would help and her heart just needs a break from the darkness as well.

"Nothing wrong with a break," Matt says, "I like your brother I do, but he's crossing lines I don't like and you need some time away from him to figure things out."

"Both space and time to myself and to mourn in some peace." Thea whispered. "But I can help out if you guys need a hand." meaning the Defenders. But Thea knew she needed this, to sleep and eat like a normal person (abet one in ongoing mental and emotional recovery).

"We are actually on the down low for the moment," Matt admits, "I don't know if you got the heads up but the UN is putting some new Accords in place for people like us. Oversight and such. Started a bit of a war among the big wigs in the hero game and I ended up picking up the case of my career. Apparently I'm going to be defending the Winter Soldier. No pressure there right?"

"And right now that is a good thing." as Thea blew her nose with some grabbed tissues. "Word just got to Team Arrow and Team Flash actually, we're enough under the radar we should be Ok for now but we're not taking any chances either." she added. She then linked the last few emails together,"You were telling me about this, brainwashing but ten times worse than what happened to me among other things. But no kidding indeed!" her hand catching Matt's in a gentle squeeze.

"I'm also going to take you up on coming up here full time for a few months." having made the decision after a lot of thinking. "You gave me a lot to think about and time away can only help, I need to work through the aftermath of the fog among other things." since Laurel's death had only brought back a lot of old unhealed wounds.

"You know how much I'd like you to move in full time," Matt says, "Star City is dangerous and Oliver is gonna get on the wrong side of the big wigs sooner than later. At least if you are in NYC, I can keep you safe...not that you need it all the time that is."

"Me being here full time means one less thing to worry about right?" Thea mused. "But getting out of Star City for a few months can only help, especially with fallout from HIVE ongoing among other things." she added. "Would only go back if its something major and a all hands needed crisis, otherwise I'll be on vacation unless you guys need the help." since Thea was also a freelance part of the Defenders and Arrow/Flash being sister teams.

Matt shook his head. "I'm going radio silent for this case pretty much. I picked up a buddy in this new kid and he agreed to help me keep an eye on the Kitchen when the Defenders can't. You'd like Parker...a bit mouthy but smart as a whip."

"Would love to meet him." Thea could smile,"And you know Oliver and Barry are on standby too if all else fails." she added. "But going radio silent will only help both of us I'm sure. Speedy and Daredevil are taking a vacation, a badly needed one."

"I can arrange that," Matt says, "he calls himself Spiderman by the way. Like I said goofy kid but nice and quick on the uptake when you teach him something. His point of view from the most recent battle was helpful in figuring out where I want to start pulling my case together."

"Very useful and I'm already looking forward to it." Thea could smile now. "You going to need anything from me or was all this while we were ankle deep in HIVE aftermath?" she asked out of pure concern.

"I may need you as a character witness," Matt admitted, "I'm not gonna out you as Speedy, but as a former drug addict who has been mind controlled you're experiences could be invaluable to explain what Barnes went through." Matt falls silent for a moment when Thea mentions HIVE. "How is Felicity holding up?"

"I'll do it in a heartbeat." Thea could promise Matt. "I know what happened to me is more than likely a whole other ballgame but but its not pretty just the same." since Matt had seen her go through the at times nightmare filled recovery from that whole period. "Work in progress, the last few weeks along have been rough but we're texting back and forth for the moment. But so far so good since she's facing things and she has Sam."

"It's a rough thing," Matt says, "being seconds away from saving lives only to miss that window by a hair. I'm glad she has Sam to lean on though. He's a steady guy through everything and he'll make sure she doesn't curl into herself and fade away."

"She and I both know how powerful it is having not just a healthy and stable relationship but knowing we can trust someone with our hearts." Thea observed. "Felicity has Sam and I have you, our weapon is love." as she curled into Matt's warmth. "They are going on a holiday too, as soon as I mentioned to Sam we were taking a week away it was like an idea struck. Barry's also taking Kristen on a long weekend to Coast City, I think its because they don't have as much time off saved up?"

"Foggy's mom offered Foggy her house in the Hamptons for the weekend and he doesn't want to go. Want me to see if Foggy can give us the keys instead. I've never actually been there before." Matt kissed the top of Thea's head. "You can dress me up and show me off and be my sugar mama."

"All for it." Thea could smile now as she returned Matt's kiss. "And gotta admit, it'll be fun to try out the new cover story too." since they had reworked a couple of Thea's old fake ID's in light of ongoing events, only Mia Dreaden surviving since it was an old favorite.

"I should have never let Sam convince me to have those ID's made. It doesn't feel right to do that knowning what I know about the law. Still it is kinda fun."

"But as Dean loves to remind you they are handle for our other selves." meaning Daredevil and Speedy. "And we only use them when its a must, like when I have to play skirt the current Star City nut to visit." since she used Mia Dreaden several times for the train.

"And Mia is kinda hot when I'm ready for a change," Matt teases lightly.
