What the Hell Happened: aka Drunk Science equals bitty Avengers
Matt moved around his apartment like he knew where everything was which in a sense he did. He knew Clint was going to be back from training soon and would want dinner. Then the plan was to patrol the Kitchen and see where the night took them. He heard the door open and called out. "Hey birdman you are actually early...please tell me the tower didn't blow up."
no subject
"I'm not supposed to talk to people who work with police..." Bruce says his little heart beating a little faster and he curls in on himself a little.
"Hey Brucey... What ever it is your scared of, it can't get you here." Clint says putting the lid on the pot and setting Bruce back down on the ground.
no subject
Matt nods and stops what he's doing to kneel at Bruce's eye level even though he can't see him. "You are really safe here I promise. Clint and I will protect you from anyone who might try to hurt you. All you have to worry about is what cheese you want on your sandwich okay?"
no subject
Clint doesn't frown even though he wants to, he's got more nerves then a four year old should have. He kind of misses the mediating relaxed Bruce.
"Well it's not called orange." Clint smiles, "There are different flavors of orange." Clint laughs.
"You wanna try a couple see what you want?" He asks.
"I want sharp cheddar myself, What are you going to have Matty." Clint smiles and Bruce laughs a little.
"Why does he call you Matty? My mommy calls me Brucey." He says still looking tense but relaxing a little. "Can she come here? Only here not my daddy." He says looking up at the two me trying to see if he can take advantage of this. He's always be smart.
no subject
"Colby jack for me," Matt says trying not to look sad. "where is your mom kiddo, when did you see her last?"
no subject
"Daddy was yelling at mommy again... I was hiding in the closet, mom told me when daddy smells funny and starts yelling to hide for awhile and she'll find me later." He frowns a little, "I'm not supposed to tell people that." He says frowning deeper.
Clint sighs and sits back down on the floor and puts his hands on Bruce's shoulders, "It's okay to tell Bruce, it really is... and nothing bad is going to happen because you told us." Clint promises.
"Its just going to take us awhile to get your mom here, a lot of sleeps, she wanted you someplace safe for the summer before school starts, she'll be here in a couple weeks."
no subject
Matt nods, Normally he hates lying, his whole job is focused on getting people to tell the truth, but he likes Bruce Banner as a adult and as a kid so he's willing to play along. "It's not good for little guys like you to be around people who yell alot," Matt says as he grills the sandwiches, "so your mom thought it would be better for you to come out here and stay with us for a while.
He smiles. "We'll make the summer so much fun it will fly right by okay?" Bruce nods like a puppy. "Okay," the little boy says shyly.
no subject
Bruce helps with plates and napkins, and spoons, starting to feel a little more at ease.
"What do you two want to drink?" Clint asks opening the fridge.
"What can I have?" Bruce asks the nerves still in his voice.
"You can have milk, water, or we have root beer, and cherry coke."
"I can have soda?"
"A little..." Clint laughs.
no subject
"I'll have a cherry coke," Matt says as he flips the sandwiches with just the right amount of char to them, "it's my personal favorite." He smiles at Bruce. "I think it would be your favorite too." Bruce thinks hard. "I want a root beer please. I've always wanted to have a root beer float like other kids."
no subject
"You can't have a root beer float with dinner, but maybe after if your still hungry, and we can go get Ice cream tomorrow." Clint smiles grabbing himself a Dr. Pepper.
"Oh... okay." Bruce nods his curls bouncing a little, "Wait we can go out together tomorrow." he blinks his family hardly every goes out together.
"Yes, we can all go out together." Clint nods a little helping Bruce up into his seat.
He plates up the sandwiches when Matt's done cooking them and kissing the lawyer on the cheek.
"These smell great babe."
"You kiss like mommies and daddies..." Bruce says little eyebrows creeping up his face.
no subject
"Thank you babe," Matt says with a warm smile. He turns to face Bruce. "Yes Clint and I do kiss like mommies and daddies. We live together like mommies and daddies do though we don't have any kids of our own." He heads over to the table and pulls Bruce's chair out. "Come on and lets see if we need to boost you up with some books okay."
no subject
"Yeah he's my boyfriend." Clint nods.
"So you're boys who love each other..." Bruce says and thinks about it for a moment, "Love is a nice feeling." He says and that's suddenly the end of it.
"That's a big book...." He says as Clint sets him down on top of it.
"It is Matty has lots of big books, because of his big brain..."
no subject
"Lawyers need to know lots of stuff," Matt says warmly as he sits down and grabs for a napkin, "that way I can help lots of different people." He dishes up a sandwich and some soup for Bruce. "Be careful the soup is really hot and I don't want you to get burned."
no subject
"Wow looks like you got brains like Matty." Clint smiles cutting his then Bruce's sandwich in half.
"Mommy says I am very smart, I get to start school soon." He smiles starting to relax a little. He looks at Matt, "What's a lawyer do?"
no subject
"Purple wow," Matt says with a grin at Clint as he digs into his own food, sandwich first, "as for what a lawyer does...we help people when they break the rules...not little rules like don't run or clean up your own messes. But big rules like choosing to hurt someone who can't fight back or taking something that doesn't belong to you. We have to tell a judge why other people broke the rules and what the judge should do about it."
no subject
Clint can almost see the wheels in his little head turning.
"So you help bad people..." Bruce says voice sounding scared.
"Everyone needs someone to help them some times, but if they are really really bad, Matty doesn't help them... sometimes people get in serious trouble for things they didn't do, and Matty mostly helps them."
"So like when Marco stole the candy off the teachers desk and said Bonnie did it, and Bonnie was in trouble, until I told Mrs. Gladstone that is was Marco?" Bruce asks.
no subject
"That's right," Matt says, "you were a witness. And part of my job means I have to talk to people who saw the bad people breaking the rules. Witnesses make it so the bad people can't just keep breaking the rules."
no subject
It's like the boy realized how hungry he was and is slowly munching away.
Clint smiles a little. "Glade you like it, this is one of our favorites too." He says breaking off a bite of sandwich and handing it to Lucky.
no subject
Lucky woofs and nibbles the sandwich bit making the little boy giggle "That's a funny dog," Bruce says, "doesn't he eat dog food?" Matt smiles. "Lucky is a special dog a hero dog, so he gets to eat whatever he wants."
no subject
Bruce copies Clint again and hums a little eating a bit more quickly like he's realizing how hungry he is.
"I want a dog, but dad says they are too much work..." He looks at Lucky and the dog puts his head in Bruce's lap, but not in his asking for food way.
"Well you can help Lucky out while you're here." Clint smiles.
There is a knock on the door, and because they are at the tower the door slides open and it Pepper with a few bags of clothes, and delivery guys.
"Oh good your feeding him." Pepper smiles warmly setting the bags on the coffee table.
"Figured we might as well make them comfortable.... you two can handle another right, I can't... I'm sorry..." That's when another dark haired boy comes in looking around.
"Are you my new Nanny's.... while mom and dad are in Europe?" The boy asks folding his arms across his chest.
"You can set the bunk bed up in the spare room..." Pepper says pointing.
"Look I'm sorry I can't, I have a company to run..." She says looking at Clint and Matt. "Jarvis says two and half weeks max..."
no subject
Matt sighs, mentally counts to ten and says. "You know Pepper there are these things called cell phone's used to warn people about things like this in advance." He gets up and kneels in front of little Tony while resisting the urge to laugh or possibly take pictures of this for later blackmail. "My name is Matt, that guy over there is Clint and Bruce is the one chowing down on lunch. We aren't nannies exactly...but you are going to stay with us for a while okay. Come on and let's get you some soup okay?"
The little boy nods seriously. "Okay," he says eyeing Bruce carefully as Matt leads him over to the table and gets him a book to sit on as well. "I'm telling you right now you owe us for this Pepper," he adds carefully.
no subject
Bruce looks at the other boy and blinks a little taking another sip of his soup. "He was in the science place with me..." He says to Clint.
"The lab, that's because you are both very smart boys, and are just going to hang out with us for a bit." He smiles but shoots a glare at Pepper, as he gets Tony a bowl of the soup.
"It's nice here..." Bruce says smiling at Tony, "They have a dog, and nice food, and no yelling."
no subject
Matt feels his heart twist for these kids and he has to take a second to get his head together before he speaks again. "Nobody yells here, Clint and I talk when we are mad at each other okay?"
